• Transfix Transformers SA

Meeting Africa’s power demands through high-tech solutions.

  • Transfix Transformers SA

The home of high-tech pole mounted oil distribution transformers.

Our Company

Transfix Transformers SA, affectionately known as “TTSA” is a high tech manufacturer of pole or platform mounted transformers.

Our BBBEE

We are one of only a handful of manufacturers in South Africa. We are also likely one of the only ones with a Level 1 BBBEE rating.

Our Certifications

We are SABS certified with ISO 9001 and are an approved vendor and supplier to Eskom, who expect only the best in terms of quality.

The Best in Technology, Expertise and Performance!

TTTSA is dedicated to the manufacturing and supply of oil immersed, 3-Phase, Medium Voltage / Low Voltage transformers up to 1MVA. Our technologies and the intellectual property invested into the business, have truly positioned the factory to be a major contributor in the industry, having made major inroads with clients in both the private and public sectors. We have also rebranded our company to reflect our new way of doing business that is all inclusive, and one that embraces our young teams that are at the forefront of growth. We selected blue because it represents new beginings, creativity and and new technical possibilites.

From idea to state-of-the-art production!

TTTSA was established in South Africa in 2010 due to the growing market demand for the supply of more reliable, cost efficient and good quality transformers. The initial plan was to import and assemble sub-elements in South Africa, but Eskom demanded that more value be added to the supply chain in our country through local manufacturing. Accordingly, further capital was invested into the company in order to establish a state of the art transformer manufacturing factory in Botshabelo. As a result TTSA became an Eskom approved supplier in 2015, after which the first sizeable order was received.

Understanding the role of Transformers on the National Grid

Transformers such as ours, are defined as devices that alter the voltage of electrical currents. A transformer can change a high-voltage supply into a low-voltage supply. When a power station such as Medupi supplies electricity to consumers, it does so through through the national grid. Before the electricity gets into the home or business, the voltage needs to be reduced to safe levels through step-down transformers. This is where TTSA come in!

  • a transformer that increases the voltage is called a step-up transformer
  • a transformer that decreases the voltage is called a step-down transformer
  • our transformers are  step-down transformers – built for safe entry of electricity into homes and businesses

Without a TTSA step-down transformer, pulling the power from this pole would be extremely dangerous.

Our industry is as electric as any other. Here are some quotes that inspire us!

“Electricity is really just organized lightning”

“Enthusiasm is the electricity of life. How do you get it? You act enthusiastic until you make it a habit.”

“Invention is the most important product of man’s creative brain. The ultimate purpose is the complete mastery of mind over the material world, the harnessing of human nature to human needs.”

“I am somewhat exhausted; I wonder how a battery feels when it pours electricity into a non-conductor?”

“Electricity for example was considered a very Satanic thing when it was first discovered and utilized.”

“There are things done today in electrical science which would have been deemed unholy by the very man who discovered electricity, who would themselves not so long before been burned as wizards.”

“Modern electrical power distribution technology is largely the fruit of the labors of two men—Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla. Compared with Edison, Tesla is relatively unknown, yet he invented the alternating electric current generation and distribution system that supplanted Edison’s direct current technology and that is the system currently in use today. Tesla also had a vision of delivering electricity to the world that was revolutionary and unique. If his research had come to fruition, the technological landscape would be entirely different than it is today. Power lines and the insulated towers that carry them over thousands of country and city miles would not distract our view. Tesla believed that by using the electrical potential of the Earth, it would be possible to transmit electricity through the Earth and the atmosphere without using wires.”

“Electricity is not digital. It does not come in discrete packets, but floods the air and flows through conductors and shoots from the hands of mad scientists in silent movies. If it is futuristic at all, it is a past version of the future, temperamental, unstable, half-alive.”

Our Fantastic Clients

The profile of our clients includes, but is not limited to; Eskom, Municipalities, Private Developers, Wholesalers and Contractors. We have been fortunate to have a footprint at Eskom and throughout South Africa via the various municipalities, Developers and Contractors.

We also export our transformers into countries such as Botswana, and we are making inroads into other countries within the SADC region. We are so proud to be part of the solutuion in meeting Africa’s constant power demands.
